Definitions
- Temperature - This value is the current outdoor
air temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.
- Wind Chill Index Temperature - This number
combines the effects of wind speed and air temperature on the
human body. It describes the loss of body heat and how the
temperature feels.
- Relative Humidity - The ratio of the actual vapor pressure
of the air to the saturation vapor pressure, expressed as a percentage.
Vapor Pressure is the part of total atmospheric pressure due to the
water vapor content. Saturation vapor pressure is related to the
amount of water vapor in the atmosphere.
- Dew Point Temperature - The temperature to which air must be
cooled at a
constant pressure to become saturated. Saturated means the point
where no more water can be retained.
- Barometric Pressure - The pressure exerted by the
atmosphere in inches of mercury. An F after this number means
the pressure is falling, an S means Steady, and R means rising.
- Wind Direction - The average direction of the wind
during the last 60 seconds. Note that 000 is North, 090 is East,
180 is South, and 270 is West.
- Wind Speed - The average velocity of the wind in Miles
per Hour during the last 60 seconds.
- Solar Intensity - This value is the number of Watts of
Solar Energy striking the surface per Square Meter.
Zero means darkness, and it seems like
30 to 60 means cloudy, around 65 or so is a sunny winter day,
above 80 is a sunny day, anywhere around 120 is a bright summer day.
- Lightning Count - The lightning sensor is a Very Low Frequency
(VLF) radio receiver which counts the pulses received and displays
the total number of discharges during the previous 60 seconds.
It will detect pulses within about a 200 mile radius.
